Dr. Jim Hale is a native of Corvallis. After graduating from Oregon State University in 1994, he went on to earn his doctor of optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in 1998. Following graduation, Dr. Hale completed an extra year of residency training in advanced eye disease at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Hale spent 2 years as clinical director of a large laser eye surgery center and then went on to practice in a 25-doctor medical eye care group in the Portland area until 2005. Following the birth of their third child, Dr. Hale and his wife Dee Dee decided to return home to Corvallis where he joined Valley Eye Care. Dr. Hale is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis. Dr. Hale served as President of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association from 2011-2013. Currently, Dr. Hale holds a position with the American Optometric Association which gives him the opportunity to work with federal legislators to enhance their understanding of the importance of vision and eye health and to ensure that patients maintain access to eye care across the country. At Valley Eye Care, Dr. Hale provides the full range of comprehensive vision and eye health care to patients of all ages with a particular interest in medical eye disease management and dry eye syndrome.
